Rules of Competition
Fall 2007
U6 Division – Will play 4 v 4, with a maximum of 8 on the roster. The duration of the match will be 4 quarters of 8 minutes each. Water break is MANDATORY!! There are no goalies in this age division. In front of each goal is an ARC – the players are not to touch the ball inside this area. If the ball is kicked by the offense, it will be a goal kick for the defense. If the ball is kicked by the defense, it will be an indirect kick for the offense. At the end of each quarter, the 4 players who are on the field will come off and the 4 players sitting on the bench will go on the field. If you need to substitute before that time, it can be done on your throw-in, either team’s goal kick or kick off. There are no substitutions done on a corner kick. There will be a 3 goal differential – if either team is ahead by 3 goals and additional goals are scored, the restart will be a goal kick for the defense and the offense will go to the other side of the half. Even though the score is not kept officially, the kids keep score. Everyone needs to remember that this an instructional division, standings are not kept. Everyone plays 50% regardless of attendance to practice. The name of the game is to have fun!!!
U8 Division - Will play 5v5, with a maximum of 10 on the roster. The duration of the match is 4 quarters of 10 minutes each – water break is MANDATORY!!! There are goalies in this age division, however, no one child is to play goal the entire game – only half a game. At the water break, the 5 players on the field will come off and the 5 players on the bench will go on the field. All penalties are indirect kicks – there are no penalty kicks in this age division. THERE WILL BE OFFSIDES!!! Substitution will be allowed at your throw-in, either team’s goal kick and kick-off only – not at a corner kick. There will be a 3 goal differential – if either team is ahead by 3 goals and additional goals are scored, the re-start will be a goal kick for the defense and the offense will go to the other side of the half line. Coaches – score is not kept in this division officially but the kids keep score. This is an instructional division and everyone plays 50% of every game regardless of attendance to practice. Standings are not kept but there will be a round robin play-off at the end of the season.
U11 Division – Will play 6v6, with a maximum of 12 on the roster. The duration of the match will be 4 quarters of 12 ½ minutes each. Water break is MANDATORY!!! There are goalies in this age division, however, no one child is to play goal the entire game – only half a game. Substitution will be allowed at your throw-in, either team’s goal kick or at kick-off only – not at a corner kick. Standings are kept in this age division and there are play-offs at the end of the season.
U14 Division – Will play 5 v 5 or 6 v 6, with a maximum of 12 on the roster. The duration of the match will be 4 quarters of 15 minutes each. Water break is MANDATORY!!! Substitution will be allowed at your throw-in, either team’s goal kick or kick-off – not at a corner kick. The goalkeeper is to roll the ball back into play once he/she has gained possession, do not punt. All other FIFA rules apply. Standings are kept in this age division and there are play-offs at the end of the season.
U16/18 Division – Will play 5 v 5 or 6 v 6, with a maximum of 12 on the roster. The duration of the match will be 4 quarters of 17½ minutes. Water break is MANDATORY!!! Substitution will be allowed at your throw-in, either team’s goal kick or kick off – not at a corner kick. The goalkeeper is to roll the ball back into play once he/she has gained possession, do not punt. All other FIFA rules apply. Standings are kept in this age division and there are play-offs at the end of the season.
